Mining & Energy
Our in-house mining law expertise enables us to provide articulate and specialised advice pertaining to the global focus area of mining and energy. Our track record includes legal advisory for a lead consortium involved in the exploration of upstream oil and gas opportunities in Zimbabwe, advising a global mining house on the acquisition of a strategic platinum asset and advising a natural gas company on the structure of a gas-to-power deal in the SADC region.
Our founding partner Lloyd Manokore, who has extensive experience in the subject matter, was invited to be a key speaker at the 22nd Africa Oil Week held in Cape Town in October 2015. He presented the oil and gas potential of Zimbabwe, the oil generating potential of the Zambezi basin and the opportunities available to potential investors in coal bed methane. He will be sitting on the policy and law panel discussion at Africa’s elite event for energy investment, Africa Oil & Power, to be held in Cape Town in 2016.
Our dedicated Mining & Energy practice group ensures that it is always kept abreast of the latest trends in mining and energy as well as all regulatory and legal aspects.
Lloyd is recognised in Who’s Who Legal, having advised on numerous downstream energy transactions involving fuel retail, renewable energy and coal mining. Following an announcement by the government of Zimbabwe on its intention to pursue upstream oil and gas prospects, Lloyd has been retained to work with a lead consultant on policy formulation and the regulatory framework to be implemented.
Our transaction experience includes some of these recent mandates.
